JACK'S DIVE CHEST COMMERCIAL DIVE ACADEMY'S dive and underwater welding courses are approved by SOUTH AFRICAN DEPARTMENT OF LABOUR, and are both IMCA (INTERNATIONAL MARINE CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION) and UK, HSE (HEALTH AND SAFETY EXECUTIVE) approved for the working diver qualification in the UNITED KINGDOM.

JACKS DIVE CHEST COMMERCIAL DIVE ACADEMY the oldest operating COMMERCIAL DIVING SCHOOL in Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA est. in 1993 Sept

JACK'S DIVE CHEST COMMERCIAL DIVE ACADEMY is what we say we are, an ACADEMY. We are not a school, we are a place of HIGHER LEARNING, an academy that prepares you with training to become employed in the COMMERCIAL DIVE INDUSTRY.

We are determined by the Department of Labour, dive times, dives and syllabus that has to be presented to the under-graduate diver, HOWEVER unlike the other TRAINING INSTITUTIONS in South Africa, we do not offer the minimum requirements as determined by Department of Labour.

Our graduate divers complete class iv commercial dive training with at least 44 dives totaling a minimum of 1400 minutes (this being double what the requirements are). They also complete class iii with at least 50 dives and 1800 minutes (again this being nearly three times the minimum requirements). These are times and dive standards that we have been able to maintain consistently for the past 8 years,

Our dives are not just bubble blow dives or noughts and crosses tasks on slates, our dives are working dives with actual tools and equipment, at actual depth.

We do not believe a graduate diver can be called "COMPETENT" as per the TRAINING STANDARDS with the minimum amount of dives and time.

We are a proud ACADEMY and are proud of the quality of training we present, we are proud of the fact that we train commercial divers for the industry, we are proud of our standards, we are proud of being the BEST IN SOUTH AFRICA, IF YOU WANT TO THE BEST COMMERCIAL DIVE TRAINING - COME AND BE TRAINED BY THE BEST.

OUR TRAINING OPENS DOORS FOR DIVERS ALL OVER THE WORLD

The Atlantic ocean and in particular our part of the coastline teems with an abundance of sea life ranging from tiny sea horses to the very busy and large cape fur seal and even larger gigantic humpback whales.

We are situated in a winter rainfall area and during May – August the winters are wet and cold, with the average temperature being 18 degrees. In summer the sun is unforgiving and punishes the earth and everything else not accustomed to its deadly rays.

This is a true men of men habitat and with the Atlantic ocean being on average 16 degrees, at the very least 7mm neoprene territory.

The waters we dive in range in depth from 1m to 30m and the occasional humpback whale has been encountered on dives where the visibility ranges from 0m to 10m.
